First time ordering was about a week ago and boy was I starving! I was so pleasantly surprise at how good the food tastes! I got a Good Ol' Burger and I'll tell you what... it was delightful. So good that I ordered another one today with crispy fries. The portions were spot on, price was good and the staff was friendly when I picked it up. I love trying new places and this is one I will continue to go to. Great Job Guys!
This is THE MUST PLACE to eat!!! Fish and Chips was amazing! Gigantic crunchy haddock fillets and delicious addictive fries! Burger was fantastic too! Cocktails well made. Thanks again! Glad we found this place 😊
This was our second visit to Shays and we were not disappointed! The food here had been delicious each time. During this visit, we got the special of the day and the fish and chips as our two entrees. The special of the day was a hand breaded chicken sandwich topped with a piece of fried mozzarella cheese and spicy marinara sauce and pesto sauce. Served on garlic bread. I upgraded to garlic fries for my side. It was all amazing and full of such flavor! The haddock on the fish and chips was flaky and thick in a nice batter. Our cocktails were ok. The staff were nice and mostly attentive.
We sat outside for lunch. It's a good location, not too noisy from traffic. It was a hot day but we were in the shade and there was a nice breeze. The food was excellent. It came out hot, straight from the oven. I got the fish and chips. The fries were salty and very crisp. The haddock was nicely flaky with crunchy and flavorful coating. Cole slaw was fresh and delicious.Wife got the fried chicken sandwich. She states that it was super good.A note about the men's room: truly the smallest I have ever seen, including on buses or planes. My wife asked me why I didn't get a picture and I said I would have but couldn't get my hand in my pocket. But seriously, try this place, you won't be disappointed.
Smaller place with maybe a dozen tables for seating and bar seating.WORTH THE STOP!!AMAZING buffalo chicken, visiting from MA, probably some of the best buffalo chicken I've ever had.I also tried a pulled-pork sandwich that had onion rings AND coleslaw on it- I was GIDDY.Delicious food and VERY decent prices. My boyfriend and I shared an appetizer, each got our own entree and a drink and I believe our bill was around $70 before tip.
This place is diner meets five bar in all the best ways. Great staff with ice cold beer and wine. Plus a super duper fantastic play list of '90s grunge and metal. Also, they had them hockey game on, Rangers! In a Boston friendly city. My only complaint is the fries. Please stop with the spray on Petrochemical crispy fry. Join the Potato Fries Matter; PFM movement. Get you may not want to make your own but get better spuds. This sticks of chemicals you serve are a disgrace. #PFM. 😉
Such a hidden little gem! Had a delicious lunch at Shay’s on a cold, rainy day! My husband had a delicious cheeseburger and I had the beer battered haddock! So yummy!! Huge portions too! If you are looking for a satisfying lunch, check out Shay’s!
Emily and Joey were awesome! Super friendly, great food recommendations. Highly recommend the sweet & spicy tenders and hot fries.. We come up every year for February vacation and always make it a point to stop at Shay’s!
I got a blackberry vodka and some garlic fries, and they were both so good! There was only 1 lady working the whole place alone. Props to her for doing great with all the larger groups that came in (a group of 10 came in when we were eating) . Everyone's food and drinks were great. Good little spot
My fiancé and I decided to check this place out while visiting Portland. We landed on it because my name is also Shay. Food and staff were amazing! Def add it to your list if you’re visiting!
This was my first restaurant experience here in Portland, and boy was it a good one! Upon entering, me and my party was super excited to see the funky-fresh atmosphere! We were seated quickly, and the service was very friendly and casual. The food was spectacular! Especially if you're looking for simple Americana comfort food.A lovely surprise!
Great food and service always enjoy going here. Worth the trip.
